We sat down with Tevin Tapia and caught up with the KTM rider competing in the east coast lites class. Tevin had a great amateur career and now he is racing at the professional level in the AMA Supercross Series. Supercross hasn't come easy for him, but he is working hard and is hoping for a break out ride in Daytona!

PaincREV: Tevin, how have you been?
tevin1Tevin Tapia: Hey, I've been good man. I have been training hard and riding a lot. This week has been good; I worked really hard this week. Daytona wont be easy, [Taylor] Futrell and I have been riding a little bit of outdoors this week to get ready.

PRev: There is a big transition from amateur racing to professional racing, how do you feel you are doing with the transition?

TT: Yeah that's for sure, it's crazy. In the past I always headed to the line knowing I can win. Now I hope I make the main, but the good Lord blessed me with a gift and if I just ride like I know how, I know I can be up there with those guys.

PRev: Now that you have two supercross races under your belt, do you feel it is what your dreamed it would be?
TT: Dude, when you're on the line and you look up at 60,000 plus people, it's breath taking! However, supercross isn't easy, that's for sure. I'm more of a MX guy, but I'm getting the hang of things.

PRev: At the Atlanta race you were so dang close to making the night show.
TT: I was super bummed, but my last practice all the lap times dropped because they fixed up the track. So I went out, put in two okay laps checking out the track and the next lap was gonna be my lap. As I charged into the last rhythm section Metcalf was rolling the track and tevin3crossed in front of me and I landed on him, ripped my jersey off and hit my head pretty good. That pretty much ended my night.

PRev: Daytona is coming up this weekend. That track gets rougher than any other Supercross track, do you think that will be to your advantage?
TT: Yes, I think so. I'm a motocross kinda guy, like I said before, so I'm super pumped for this weekend. I just have to ride like I know how and not let anything get in the way.

PRev: You did some nationals last year, how did they go for you?
TT: That didn't go as well as I had hoped, but I had a lot of fun doing the last two and learning how things work. I just had a lot of bike trouble.

tevin2PRev: Will you be running the outdoors this year as well?
TT: Oh yeah I'm really excited. I wanna be top 10 every weekend; that's my goal.

PRev: Who are you riding for this year?
TT: I'm riding for Dragon Racing Fuels, 1-866-ktm-part.

PRev: How is your walk with the Lord?
TT: Amazing! He has done so much for me. I'm so thankful words cant even explain; I'm very very blessed!

PRev: We know you love the Lord. How do you spread the His word to others?
TT: I pray all the time. Also if I see someone that might need to hear the word, I'll bring the Lord up and tell them to have faith.

PRev: Anything you want to add before you go?
tevin4TT: Please, I would like to thank GOD, my whole family: my dad, my mom, my sister, and my brother. Also I would like to thank Al Albiker, Alonzo Brown, Craig Ross, and Dragon Racing Fuels, 1-866-ktm-part, FMF, Dunlop, DT1, Fox Shox, Motorex, Kicker, No Fear, and Spy.

PRev: Good luck at Daytona.
TT: Thanks man.
