PanicREV: Tell us a bit about yourself.
Ben Hertel: My name is Ben Hertel, I'm 27 years old and live just outside of San Diego, CA. My screen name is CRF107...even though I don't ride a Honda anymore. I've been riding off and on for a little over 3 years, and racing for the last 2 years. I got a late start riding. I was raised around motorcycles and racing, but never rode when I was younger. After I graduated from college, I decided it was something I still wanted to do while I had the opportunity and not too many other responsibilities. Because I'm very competitive I started racing and I love it. I enjoy just riding with friends, but I'm always working on getting faster and focused on racing. This year I've also been working with Vicki Golden helping her get set up for the WMA Pro Nationals. I'm really looking forward to traveling this summer and helping her at the races.

PREV: What kind of bike or bikes do you ride? Didn't you "switch brands" in the last year or so?
1Yes, last year about this time I made the switch from Red to Orange. I currently have a 2008 KTM 250 SX-F and I love it. I think I'm going to be riding Orange for awhile.... And yes I've heard all the pumpkin jokes.

PREV: If memory serves me correctly you're mainly an MX rider, any other disciplines you're thinking of trying?
BH: I think if I made a switch to anything else I would try some desert racing. I've worked with off-road trucks for a few years now, both at work and in the pits of my friends trophy truck team, but I've always wanted to give Baja a try on a bike.

PREV: Do you have any other hobbies or interests?
BH: When I'm not riding I'm usually golfing. I just started playing last year and I really enjoy it. It’s a great way to relax, but very challenging as well. I used to surf and wakeboard alot, but I'm pretty committed to MX for now.

PREV: How did you find out PanicRev Ministries?
3BH: I found out about PanicRev through MySpace, then about the forum when I met Steve (socalmx716) at my first race with VetX. I still haven't been able to make it up to a Thursday night meeting, but I try and get to as many of the weekend events as I can.

PREV: Do you have a favorite Bible verse? If so, why that one?
BH: My favorite bible verse is Rev. 5:13:
"Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: 'To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, forever and ever!'"

PREV: Any shout outs?4

BH: First to Scott, John, and Jeff for the awesome job they do with the ministry. Next to Vicki, I'm really stoked to be working with her this summer at the Nationals. And finally, to all my friends that I ride and race with...Bryce, Laurie, Jon, Troy, Max, Tatum, and everyone else. Having friends at the track makes riding so much more fun!
