PREV: Tell us a bit about yourself: your name & screen name, your age, family, and where you live.
SH: My name is Shaun Hillion. I’m 20 yrs old I live in Big Bear City, CA with my mom & dad. I also live at Racetown in Adelanto, CA like 3 days a week to ride and train.
PREV: What kind of bike or bikes do you ride?
SH: All my racing career I have rode Yamaha’s. This year for Supercross I’m racing Kawasaki’s. I’ve been on a 450 for the last 3 years. This is new racing on the 250F and its taking sometime to get used to it.
PREV: If I'm correct, this is your first season competing in SX. How long have you been riding and racing?
SH: Yep this is my first year of racing Supercross. I just want to go out and have fun and do the best I can. The first year is all about learning, having positive people around me and getting to the night show. I’ve been racing for about 8 years.
PREV: Are you getting help from any sponsors or are you mainly going as a privateer?
SH: I’m mainly a privateer. My main sponsor is my boss, Jay Nelson. He owns Big Bear Log Works. Also mom & dad, O’Neal Racing,Scott USA, One Ind, Pro Circuit, Headhunters Ind, Acerbis, and Chaparral Motorsports are also helping me out.
PREV: What stands out the most for you as you encounter this level of competition compared to what you've faced in previous seasons?
SH: Well, this year I feel like I’m coming into it with the most speed, technical ability, and strength that I have ever had. I have to give it my all and mix it up with the fast guys.
PREV: For those of us who've never competed at this level, what have you had to go through to get to the level where you are now?
SH: I have traveled to a lot of races, all over for a longtime. I’ve been a weekend warrior for years. My Parents have sacrificed a lot. It’s been fun and I have lots of
memories I will never forget. I’ve raced with a lot of guys that have come and gone, but I’m still here believing in myself, pushing myself mentally and physically to live the dream.
PREV: How has your faith helped you as you've progressed?
SH: For me, my faith is everything. I’d say everyday I live, every person I meet, every opportunity is a blessing from God. Every good thing or bad happens for a reason. I find myself turning to Him for guidance. I know He hears me with little things that happen. His plan is set and has purpose and I’m ready for it. I hope someday I can thank Him for everything in front of 50,000 people on the podium!
PREV: How did you find out PanicRev Ministries?
SH: Well, my father introduced me to it. Also we went to a PanicRev day at Competitive Edge, it might have been the first one. I think what they’re doing is great for the sport, gathering and helping riders spread the word of God! Someday I would love to go to their Bible studies, but I live so far away.
PREV: Do you have a favorite Bible verse? If so, why that one?
SH: Yeah, I have one that helps me focus, Philippians chapter 4 verse 13, "All things are possible thought Christ who strengthens me!" Because Christ is my strength! When I’m down on myself He picks me up and I think any thing is possible through Him. Just try hard for what you want and let Him guide you and He’ll make it happen.
PREV: Any shout outs?
SH: To all my family & friends, my co workers at Big Bear Log Works, my boss Jay Nelson and his family, John at ZLT Racing, all my sponsors throughout the years, The Alessi Family for letting me ride their tracks, Racetown 395 -home away from home. My Mom & Dad, and my sister for always being there.
