I am going to be honest, I had to force myself to sit down and right this blog. I have been thinking about writing it all weekend and not looking forward to it. Why, you may ask. Well, there are a few reasons.
The first reason that I have not been looking forward to writing is blog is I am sitting in an nearly empty room surrounded by boxes and packing tape. It isn't exactly an inspiring sight. My wife and I have been packing all weekend getting ready for our move to Lake Elsinore. While we are looking forward to moving, living out of boxes, eating on paper plates, and living in a house with boxes everywhere isn't a lot of fun. Needless to say, Amy and I are both ready to be done with this whole moving thing.
The second reason, and perhaps more a bigger reason, is that I knew it was time to give an update on our Action09 campaign. The news is rather bleak, and thus far we have fallen really short of our goals. When we came up with the idea of finding 150 people to make $30 a month giving commitment, it seemed very achievable--even with the economy the way it is. We have thousands of people on our mailing list and thousands of visitors to the website each month; finding 150 people to give about a dollar a day was something we were all excited about, and we all truly felt that was going to be how God was going to provide for 09. That, however, has yet to happen. To date, we have eleven people that have made the commitment. God is doing some amazing things and has been moving in huge ways; people are getting saved and lives are being changed. However, ministry, like everything else, costs money. The reality is that without funding the ministry we do will slowly grow to a stop. However, if we all join together and make a commitment to give that dollar a day, we can enable ministry to continue and together we can impact this motocross community in the name of Jesus! I guess in the end the question is this. Have you been blessed by PanicREV? Has God touched you in some way by this ministry? Do you see value in the mission PanicREV has been called do? If you do, invest in the work God is doing, we cannot do it alone. We need your help. Check out the Action09 page for more info, if you haven't already.
Until next time,
Scott Parkinson
