Click It or Miss It: Kyle Wolack
PanicREV: So let's get down to it Kyle. What are you up to this week?
Kyle Wolack: Well this is the last week before we head out to Mesquite, so my dad and I will just be getting everything ready. Other than that its just like any other week; I'll be out riding and working with Tortelli putting in the laps and then Tyler Kalisiak has me going into the gym a few times this week as well as cycling. Since we've been back from Texas, Tyler has really been pushing me in the gym; this week will be a little bit lighter so come next week my body's not completely spent.
PRev: So you struggled a little bit at Lake Whitney. What happened there?
KW: Yeah, I had some ups and downs. I don't know if I struggled because it was the first national or what, but I didn't do as well as I would have liked too. I think I put in some solid rides though. Whitney was also my first race on a 450. I actually did pretty well, better then I did on my 250f which was pretty cool. I really wanted to have good results in the 250 class. Overall the week went really good. I learned a lot from that race and just tried to carry the momentum over to Oak Hill.
PRev: How did Oak Hill end up for you?
KW: Oak Hill definitely went better than Whitney did. This was the first year I had been to Oak Hill, and it was good. The track was awesome ,and I think I just had a lot more fun. The 250 class didn't go as well as I wanted it too, but I still put in good rides and gave it my all. I just struggled from bad starts and dirty passes, so when you look at the results it doesn't really show you how good I actually rode. The 450 class went good though. I started getting more comfortable on the bike and put in some good finishes. I think my best was an 11th which is pretty good. It would have been nice to get a top ten, but I know I gave it my all so that's all that matters.
PRev: You've been working hard this year. Vegas is coming up next week; do you think you have what it takes to run up front?
KW: Yeah, I've been really working hard these past few months, and it's frustrating when the results don't show it. I just need to keep my chin up and know that the program I'm on is going to pay off eventually. It's easy to get down on yourself, but you just got to learn from your mistakes. Since we've been back from Texas ,that's all I've been doing is working on the things I've struggled with in the past. Next week isn't going to be any easier than the two weeks back in Texas; the B class is stacked this year just like every other year. I just need to focus on me, ride like I know how to ride, and just try not to worry about any of the other 40 riders on the track. I know I'll be able to run inside the top 10.
PRev: What other nationals will you be racing this year other than the Texas nationals and world minis?
KW: Really my main goal and focus is to make it into Loretta's this year riding in the B class. We might do Mammoth this year; it's still kind of up in the air at this point but we'll have to wait and see. Other than that, I'll be at Ponca, Amateur Open and Possibly Mini O's.
PRev: So lets' get a little dirt on you. How did you get your nick name Warlack?
KW: Alright well first off, its Warloc.
... Jace Owen's the only one that calls me warlac because he can't properly pronounce it, being from Illinois and having a country accent. Sebastian Tortelli runs a motocross school called Champ Factory, and he made us these shirts to wear while we were out in Texas. On the sleeves he put our name and numbers, but he spelled my name wrong. On the sleeves of the shirt instead of my name he put: 949 Kyle Warloc. So I wore the shirt a few times and everyone started realizing my name was spelled wrong and now I have become known as ... Warloc.
PRev: How many hours a week do you spend on your Xbox?
KW: Well I hardly ever used to play Xbox because I didn't have live and then finally I got a membership for live a few weeks ago. For a while I didn't have a mic either but I just recently bought one of those bad boys, and now you can find me playing Reflex at least 3 times a week, ya know throwing down 3 lap sprints. I don't have an hour meter on my controller, but if I did it would probably have more hours than my practice bike does.
PRev: So when did you get baptized? That must have been an awesome experience for you.
KW: I don't remember the exact date, but I believe it was the last week of October of
last year. Yea, it was super sick, other then the water being colder than Alaska. It was an awesome day. All the guys over at Panic Rev are just awesome people, and if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have the lord in my life like I do now.
PRev: You haven't been to a bible study lately, Do you plan on going to any time soon?
KW: Yeah its been some time, the last bible study I went to was the Thursday before I left for Texas, I went with my trainer, Tyler. It wasn't with Panic Rev but a place near my house. It's a bummer, I haven't been able to go out to Panic Rev in quite some time though. I live about 30 minutes from where they hold the bible study, but over the past few months the freeway I take to get to where they meet has been under construction. With the 5 o'clock traffic, it takes me over an hour an a half to get out there, and unfortunately it just hasn't been working out. I definitely plan on going out there soon. I miss going out there and hanging out with John, Scott, Jeff, and just all the people that go out there. They make it such a great time, and its' just such an awesome opportunity to worship the lord. I definitely miss it!
PRev: What is one of the best memory's you have in Motocross?
KW: I would have to say my best memory of racing motocross is back in 2008 when I won Loretta's. The second day I got there I had gotten really sick and with the weather back in Tennessee, it was just made everything miserable. In my last moto I got like a second and i was bummed because the leader was right there, but I had no idea I had
even won until all the guys over at Kawasaki came up to me and started congratulating me. I was like I just got second.. and they were all like so what you just won the title and it was such a an unreal feeling and my dad was so pumped. It didn't even really hit me until we were driving home.
PRev: Who has been helping you out this year?
KW: I have a lot of people supporting and helping me out this year, especially my dad. Without him, none of this would even be possible, so I just want to thank him for everything he does for me. All the guys over at Kawasaki, Jim Hawkins over at Escondido Cycle Center, Sebastian Tortelli, Tyler Kalisiak, EVS, Dunlop, No Fear, Truth Soul Armor, Factory Backing, Race Tech, Shoei, Pro Circuit, Scott goggles, Acerbis, Tag Metals, AC racing, Works Connection, KW Construction and the lord Jesus Christ for keeping me safe.
PRev: Is there anything you would like to add before were done?
KW: I just want to give a huge thanks to Panic Rev for giving me this opportunity and for all the people who are behind me, helping me out. Thanks
PRev: Good luck in Vegas warlack...
KW: ....Its Warloc!
UPDATE: Kyle put in a number of solid rides while at the World Mini place in the top ten in each of his classes. Good job Kyle, keep the ball rolling brotha.
