Lost & Found: Gavin Gracyk
PanicREV: Gavin, it has been a long time. What have you been up to, have you been riding/racing at all?
Gavin Gracyk: Hey Scott, it has been awhile. I have been in Texas ever since January. I have done some riding over the last few months, but have mainly been instructing other riders through the S.O.A.R. Academy program.
PRev: You are scheduled to have surgery on your wrist, what happened?
GG: I had a small crash in November before the Des Moines AX. I later had x-rays and was told that I had no breaks. So I enjoyed the holidays with my Mother and continued therapy and healing. I left for Texas after the first of the year to find some direction, and step out in faith in my life and career. After being feed up with the continuing restriction and pain, I saw another doctor only to find out I did have a broken wrist, for 3 months.
PRev: The word is you are going to be coming out to California for the surgery. What are your plans while you are out here?
GG: Yes sir, I will be in SoCal until the 29th of April. There is a Dr. in Murietta that is scheduled to do my surgery. While I am out here I have scheduled some S.O.A.R. Academy classes. I'm very excited about working with some riders. Its truly an honor to carry on the traditions of hard work and focus that my father Gary Gracyk started with S.O.A.R (School Of Advanced Racing).
PRev: What is your vision for the riding clinics?
GG: My vision is to have 3 separate 10 rider groups. A) Mini's B) novice/intermediate/expert C) Vets. Each group having their own 4 hour session of HARD WORD! This instructional class will include work in multiple areas of their riding, with the goal of cutting their lap times after just 4 hrs of work.
PRev: Catch us up a little bit on how God has been working in your life.
GG: God is so good! I have been more aware of the time that I spend in the Word, and man does it pay off. I have been a witness to God's Mighty healing power concerning my Mothers health. Along with all that, the Lord has been showing me areas of my life that need attention. I am a work in progress and pray that the Lord continues to shape and mold me. All glory be to Him!
PRev: What's next for you?
GG: Next is recovery and then racing MX ... Lord willing! Once I get back to Ohio, I will plan to head south to Texas and continue training and working with riders to help them take the proper steps toward accomplishing their goals this year.
PRev: Is there anyting you would like to add?
GG: I wanna give a special thanks to the Prado family for letting me stay at their house as if I was one of their own, Buffalo Creek MX, The Cornerstone Church of Rockwall, along with all my other wonderful friends who have helped me with this surgery and time of trials. God Bless you all!
