Click It & Sip It: Jarred Browne

This morning we sat down with Jarred Browne and had a little chat while sippin on a cup of coffee. Jarred is currently riding the big boys class in the 2010 Supercross Series. He's had some ups and downs this season; however, he's ready to put the hammer down and show that he has the speed to run in the top 10 this year. This weekend, Anaheim 3, is the last west coast round before the series heads into the city of choking quarterbacks, Indianapolis, IN.
Jarred is ready to show everyone that he knows how to ride, just like he did this past summer at Washougal with a 5th place finish in moto two.
PanicREV: So Jarred, it's been a rough season but you've shown a lot of speed this year. How do you feel your season is going so far?
Jarred Browne: It has been a little rough, but I still consider myself a rookie. I raced three rounds last year, unhealthy, and the five rounds this year. I've never raced the lites class so I'm lacking some experience, but I have learned every weekend and have made big improvements. Like you said, my speed has been pretty good I just need to put it all together.
PRev: You made the main at the San Francisco race. You must have been pretty stoked at that.
JB: I was stoked for sure to finally get the monkey off my back. I feel I should have been in every main event this year, but I've made some rookie mistakes and had some bad luck. I was mostly stoked on how I rode in my heat. I got a decent start and got 4th, so that was good. I went down in the main event, but I was happy to put a solid heat race in.
PRev: So tell us, how did San Diego go for you?
JB: Next question! Just kidding ... San Diego didn't go good for me. I had some bike issues that led to bad starts and in my heat another rider and I came together. It put a hole in my head pipe and radiator hose. We got it fixed about a minute before the gate dropped for the LCQ, so I was way wide and wasn't able to pack my gate. I had to come from way back and wasn't able to qualify. I wasn't too pumped on San Diego, but I'm still confident and ready for A3.
PRev: Does being a privateer play a role in your confidence in positive or negative ways?
JB: I think both. It can be negative if you're sitting on the line thinking about your bike not being as good as the factory or satellite teams' bikes. My bike is stock with a pipe and suspension. I feel it's good enough for me to do well so I don't worry about what other people are riding because my bike works good for me. The positive would be having no pressure except for what you put on yourself. No one expects a privateer to do anything special.
PRev: With one west coast round left in the 2010 SX season, are you planning to compete in the east coast rounds?
JB: I'm actually working on that right now. Everything is still up in the air, but I'm thinking something will work out and I'll do the rest of the series.
PRev: You had a pretty good season outdoors in 2009. Do you plan on doing any Nationals this year?
JB: Outdoors went well for sure. I missed the first three rounds due to an injury, but with three rounds left I was 15th in points. After that I had two DNF's when my bike blew up both motos in the mud at Southwick. I will do the first two rounds for sure since they're close to me, but hopefully I will get a deal or figure something out to do the whole series.
PRev: How is your walk with the Lord going?
JB: It's been good. I've had a rough couple of years with injuries. He has giving me the strength to always stay positive and to never give up on my dream. I feel I'm really close to putting it all back together and getting back to where I was as an amateur and that's because He has given me the power to keep pushing forward.
PRev: Who has been helping you out this year?
JB: Doug Dubach and everyone at Dr.D have been a huge help. Mike at So Cal MX Training, Troy Lee Designs, Shoei Helmets, Utopia, TCX Boots, Hinson, Hammer Nutrition, Dunlop, Spider Grips, Enzo, and Decal Works.
PRev: Is there anything else you would like to add before we wrap this up?
JB: I would like to thank all the people who have supported me and believed in me. I can't thank my amazing family enough for everything they have done. Also my friends who have been loyal and stuck behind me as well. I'm starting to ride like my old self so keep an eye out!
PRev: Good luck this weekend!
JB: Thanks!
