Hangin Out With: Cody Rye
This week there has been no shortage of rain in Southern California. That's OK with us, SoCal needs the
rain and it gave us an opportunity to Hang Out With Cody Rye. We have known Cody for a number of years now, but God has really been moving in Cody's life this past year. He has an incredible heart for the Lord and God is using his life in a big way. With that said, we hope you all enjoy Hanging Out With Cody:
PanicREV: So we are two rounds into the Supercross Series. How did A1 and Phoenix go for you?
Cody Rye: Well the first two rounds have been pretty tough. The Anaheim track kinda beat me up every time I went out for practice. Regardless, I was pumped to be out there, it was sooo sick! Then in Phoenix I was feeling like I was getting things going until those monster whoops ate me up! That was a bummer. But I am excited to get the ball rollin these next few rounds.
PRev: This is your rookie year racing Supercross. Has it been what you were expecting?
CR: This is my first season racing SX and it's been tough so far, but I've been having a blast regardless. Honestly, I did expect to do better than I have been doing, but I know that I've been improving; which makes me super excited for these next rounds, even if A2 is a mud hole [laughter].
PRev: You are a Christian. Tell us a little bit about your faith.
CR: Well, my faith has had its ups and downs, like any Christian but, my faith in God will never change. He will always be my Lord and Savior. I just want to make myself more available to be used by God. God says a faith without works is dead. So right now I'm workin on not havin a dead faith [smiles].
PRev: What has been the most challenging part about being a privateer?
CR: The hardest part is only having one bike! I'm always wearing out old Betsy and I don't want her to get tired and old on me; especially off the lip of a tripple [laughter]. But I can't express enough how much fun I am havin riding SX regardless of how I do. I realize how lucky and fortunate I am to be able to be out
there.
PRev: Are you ready for a mud race this weekend?
CR: Yeah this weekend is gonna be a crazy weekend! I'm about as ready as I can be. The mud can be pretty tricky so I'm gonna ride by the motto "when in doubt tap it out" and see what happens!
PRev: We pray for you each week before the race, but if there were people out there that wanted to pray for you what would your prayer requests be?
CR: First off, thank you for your prayers. I'll be the first to admit I need them. If there was anything I could have someone pray for me for, it would be for me to keep a Christian like attitude regardless of how I ride or what happens. Also for me to make myself readily available to be used by God!
PRev: Is there anything you would like to add?
CR: I wanna say anyone who rides dirt bikes needs to visit panicrev.org and come join us Thursday nights! I also wanna add a big thank you to PanicREV Ministries cause honestly without you guys I don't know where my walk with God would be. I wanna thank Milestone Ranch MX Park for all they have done for me to get ready for SX. And I gotta thank my beautiful girlfriend Jessika for being behind me pushin me physically and spiritually shes a keeper [smiles].
PRev: Keep up the hard work Cody.
CR: Thanks again guys.
