Shade of Gray Bio:

With the help and motivation from long time family friend Troy Garrison, Joshua's natural artistic talent was discovered.  Joshua was flown to Los Angeles, California in 1995 to be trained by "taggers" and street artists (visualize a small town boy from Belle, MO in the hood).

Over the past 15 years Joshua has developed a unique style and system for how he paints all while providing for his family as a professional drywall/interior painter (he's paid his dues as a struggling/starving artist).

Shades of Gray started as a result of sitting at home after being laid off for a few weeks; bored and with a lot of time on his hands, Joshua painted a lid for himself and within weeks had orders coming from all over the United States.

He's a racer...and has ridden dirtbikes for both recreational and competitive purposes (he's bit the dust, eaten the dust, but always tried to look good in a custom lid). Josh usually gets more attention for the custom lids than his riding talents!

Joshua paints in his basement and has amateur and pro riders around the country wearing his custom designed lids (his kids and wife are his favorite models).

His BOLD, unique designs and colors can be seen all around the track, from the starting line to the finish line you can spot a Shades of Gray lid.

Creative and flexible, he incorporates the ideas of the individual riders and corporate sponsors.

You won't find a more hard working, dedicated artist. He is committed to his work and the promotion of the sport and sponsors in the motocross industry. Joshua looks forward to giving something back to a sport that has brought him years of enjoyment and great experiences.
