Pit Pastor #7
By: Troy Wong
08/29/07

Thank you.” Two words. I learned them early on, most of us did. Mom taught us to say them when Grandpa gave you a piece of candy. Dad reminded you to say it at the end of the season to your coach. Hopefully we still say it when a stranger holds the door open for us or a waiter brings us a glass of water.

Two words. Powerful worship. As Christians our desire is to worship God with all that we are (Romans 12.1-2). So for this month, I thought I’d just say thank you to God.

Thank you for the dog, just when my family and I needed some healing you brought it in the most unlikely way. Your timing was perfect, your gift brought life, and you gave us the smile. You are a great provider. (Psalm 65.9)

Thanks for the $855 test. After last month’s ipod test, you let me find a bank mistake that gave us an extra $855. I don’t like these test, but I guess you have more to teach me about how much money has a grip on my heart. (Matthew 6.24) It tells me you’ve not given up on forming Christ in me to your glory.

Thanks for your grace that keeps me saved. This summer I ran into a former colleague who is in a willful freefall.  He once loved your name and wanted to protect your reputation. Now he’s giving you a black eye. But for your grace and mercy, I could easily follow the same path. Thanks for keeping me saved thus far. (Philippians 2.12-13)

Thanks for John Piper. I’ve heard so much about him but was never interested because I of my pride and insecurities. I didn’t want to just jump on the bandwagon. But I’m glad you gave me an openness to hearing him and reading him. You’ve used him to mature me and deepen my desire for you and your word.
