Pit Pastor #4:Clarity
By: Troy Wong

Last weekend was my first time riding at night. We were at Starwest for the PanicRev race day and I had entered the MX2 class. I was late to the gate for my first moto, I threw on my clear lense goggles and didn't realized that they were pretty scratched up. During the day the scratches wouldn't have bothered me, but with all the overhead lights, I felt like I was looking through a kaleidoscope! I did the final three laps and had fun. I think I would have ridden slightly better had my goggles not been so scratched.

For the second moto I decided to use my un-scratched but tinted goggles. I thought this was a good idea until the gate dropped. I quickly realized that my kaleidoscope Oakleys were way better than my tinted Scotts! I consistently came up short on jumps and even rode off the track once. My return to racing was less than stellar, quite dismal in fact. Oh well I had fun.

On my midnight drive home I started thinking...

We all have lenses through which we see life. We have political lenses (liberals suck, Hilary for President). We have American lenses (consumerism is good, money is good, more money is better). We have racial lenses ( ___________ are stupid, _________ should go back to their own country). We have identity lenses ( I am a motocrosser, I am a father, I am a lazy person, I am a good person).

The bible is a lense also. The difference is all the other lenses distort reality. Only the bible clarifies reality.

Read your Bible. Read it a lot and discuss it with people even more. Let the Word of God tell you how you should view politics, patriotism, other people groups, yourself and your sport.

Psalm 119.105

Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light for my path.
