Pit Pastor #3: Power To Heal

Let me ask you, when you get sick or injured what do you do? When you visit someone who's sick or injured what do you say or do when you're there with them?

As a pastor I visit with a lot of sick people. Usually by the time I'm notified it's way worse than a common cold or a bad case of allergies. Often times they're in the hospital or soon to be in the hospital. Nowadays, when I visit I read them Scripture. Sometimes they have a favorite passage they want to hear, sometimes I let the Lord lead me to a passage. It really doesn't matter what I read as long as they are hearing the word of God. There's power to heal in the word. I believe people heal faster when they hear the Bible. Somehow, someway God does something wonderful and mysterious. What He does, I don't know. How He does it, I don't know. What I do know is this: I have seen dramatic differences in people who were in the Word during illness or injury and those who weren't. Being in the word makes a difference.

Read your Bible. Read it a lot. If you don't like to read, buy it on CD and listen to it a lot. Bottom line: Be in the Word.
