Name: Steven Kammerer Jr
AKA: socalmx716
PRev: Where are you from?
SK: I was born in Torrance , CA and grew up in Rancho Cucamonga .
PRev: Birthday?
SK: February 15, 1982 .
PRev: Did you do a lot of riding growing up in the Rancho area?
SK: I started riding in a field about a block from my house with some kids from my middle school. They used to be sheep herders out there sometimes, and they would get pretty mad because we would come ripping through the field on our 80's and scare all the sheep.
PRev: Ha ha, you ever get in any serious trouble for that?
SK: No, the cops came one time, but they understood that we were just having fun.
PRev: How did you get started riding?
SK: Well, I was in 8th grade and I was racing BMX on a regular basis, then one of my buddies took me out to the field by our house and let me ride his RM 80. I almost looped out the first time he let me ride it, but I was hooked. There was this little track that we had made with a decent size double and a mini whoop section, and we would do laps all day long.
Then I saw a movie called Terrafirma II, and I knew I wanted to race dirt bikes for a living. It didn't exactly work out like that, but I still ride and race and have a ton of fun.
PRev: Yeah, I think we all have experienced having that dream. As we get older, reality kind of hits you. What are your opinions on all these young kids putting there lives on the line racing and chasing that dream you and I have had?
SK: I think nowadays kids are really pushing the limits. It's kind of scary sometimes watching them. One thing that I have noticed, though, is some of these kids are losing respect for other riders.

PRev: What are your kids' names?
SK: Ezra Allen Kammerer and Elizabeth Mary Kammerer.
PRev: What are their ages?
SK: Ezra is 4 and Elizabeth is 10 weeks.
PRev: Are you looking forward to the day they hop on bikes?
SK: I bought Ezra a PW 50 for his fourth birthday. I love watching him ride. He loves riding as well, and I'm sure Elizabeth will be riding that 50 down the line.
PRev: What about your other half?
SK: She's not really interested in riding. She loves to watch my son and I ride, but she doesn't want to ride herself. She's more of a girly girl; she likes shopping.
PRev: What is your favorite track in SoCal?
SK: That's a tough one; they all have their good characteristics. I think the dirt is best at Competitive Edge; it can't be beat when it's fresh, but it can also be super crowded. I absolutely love Cahuilla too. It is a true old school outdoor track. Perris is awesome too.
PRev: What class do you race?
SK: I race the beginner class, which these days is like Novice when I raced 10 years ago.
PRev: What motivates you in a race?
SK: I am a naturally competitive person. I like to learn things every time I go out there. I strive to do better at every race, and I want to prove to some of these younger kids that you can be a nice Christian guy, be respectful and positive and still be cool at the same time. I know it sounds corny, but I want to be a positive influence to any kid that is open to what I have to say.
And I like competing it just gives you a rush you don't get from anything else.
PRev: What about your riding, what describes it?
SK: [laughter] That's a hard one. I would describe it as old school—hard working.
PRev: What professional rider would you most relate too?
SK: I would say Nick Wey. I'm quiet until you get to know me, then I'm a total goofball.
PRev: How did you find PanicRev?
SK: I actually heard of it through Ronnie Densford over at Socalmotocross.com
PRev: So do you believe in what PanicRev is doing?
SK: I totally believe in what PaniRev is doing; it's a great idea. It's just what the sport needs: something positive for kids to get themselves involved in.
PRev: Rumor has it, you're going to be riding for the team next year. Are you happy about that?
SK: I'm stoked about it; it's great. I have been bugging the guys to let me on the team for a while now. Great to be a part of something like this.
PRev: I almost forgot. I hear you are a MMA [mixed martial arts] bone crushing machine.
SK: [laughter] That's funny. My step brother trains fighters, and he got me into it awhile ago. I think some martial arts are really therapeutic and allow you to let go of some of your negative energy and stress.
PRev: So Steve, why do you love Jesus?
SK: I found Jesus when I was in 7th grade. I had gotten in a bit of trouble in my elementary school years and was kind of heading down the wrong path. Then my parents and I decided that I would try a new school that a friend of mine attended. It was a private Christian School in Upland . I soon learned that Jesus was the ultimate friend that any one person could have; He is there for you whenever you need Him and will never let you down. Although you may not immediately get everything you pray for, you have to realize that God is not there to provide you with everything you want, but the things you need to be a better human being. I guess you could say I love Jesus because He is man's best friend; He made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could go on being imperfect and be able to see heaven.
PRev: Any last thoughts or shout outs?
SK: I just want to say thank you to God for blessing me with a wonderful family, a beautiful wife and two angelic children. I'd also like to say thank you to Scott and John for giving me a chance for the 07 season. I'd also like to say to my parents that I love them and appreciate everything they have ever done for me to make me the man I am, and to my brother and sister I love you guys. To all of my sponsors, thank you for all of your help. Oh and I can't forget Ronnie Densford, he has really done a lot for me and kind of taken me under his wing, and I appreciate it very much.
PRev: Gaerne Sg10's or Alpinestar
SK: [laughter] SG 10's
