PRev: What is your name?
SY: Shad Young
PRev: What is your name on the forum?
SY: Had to go look it up, Sh4d [laughter].
PRev: What city do you currently reside in?
SY: San Gabriel, just below Pasadena.
PRev: So Shad, tell us a little about yourself.
SY: I'm 24, work as a computer technician, and I ride dirt bikes to keep me sane. Most of my time away from work is either in front of my computer, talking to people, or playing games, Battlefield 2 is awesome! The rest of my off time goes to riding, at least once a week.
PRev: What kind of bike do you ride?
SY: 2007 CRF450r, she is my baby.
PRev: So would it be safe to assume your a computer nerd?
SY: Yes, I'm a complete computer nerd and don't mind admitting it. I've built computers and networks since the early 1990's and my life pretty much revolves around it. I got into computer gaming around 1999, and started playing a game called Counter Strike in mid 2000. I was addicted to that game and worked my way up to playing professionally, being sponsored by quite a few big companies and getting paid to attend tournaments all across the country. Now I just game for fun, but I'm still so competitive that I can't fully get away from it. So yes, computer nerd is a pretty good title for me,
PRev: So whats your favorite track?
SY: I like riding all of them, but my favorite would have to be Racetown. The dirt is always turned up and prepped really well, and they keep it watered thoughout the day. Competive Edge is following in a close 2nd after a great day out there with Motomom resently. They are both really fun tracks.
PRev: Thanks for the invite! What professional rider do you think your most resemble?
SY: Hey man all the rides are posted in the forums, all you had to do was ask, don't be hating [laughter]. As of now I don't know of any 6'3" 350lbs professional riders, so that would be a tough question. But if they ever add a 300lb class, I'm pretty sure I will get picked up by Team Honda pretty quick
PRev: What rider do your most admire?
SY: I would have to say that Travis Preston and Kevin Windham are both guys that I admire a lot. They are both bigger than "average" supercross riders, yet they are just as smooth and fast on the track as other top riders.
PRev: How did u find PanicRev?
SY: I saw Scott's profile on ProRide and messaged him about how cool I thought it was to have a group bringing Christ to the motocross community. He ended up invited me to come over and try the PanicREV forums out.
PRev: Cool, whats your thoughts on PanicRev so far?
SY: It's a great group of people. It's really refreshing to have other people that love to ride and love God even more! I've never really had any Christian friend's, so being able to post on the board, ride and fellowship with other Christian riders has been a real blessing for me.
PRev: What motivates you to ride harder?
SY: I'm very competitive and I don't like not being able to do something other people can. So the biggest thing right now is getting back in shape so I can take my track riding to another level. Along with that I just try to improve on one thing each time I go riding, whether it's big or small, or just hucking a jump I wasn't trying before I just try to improve each time out.
PRev: What is it about riding that you think makes it so addicting?
SY: Well, I started riding when I was 3 and I was in love right away. I think just combining my love of the outdoors with my love of speed and adrenaline rush makes it the perfect combo. To me there is no other sport that compairs with riding a dirtbike. I think that from that first time you catch some air off a jump and land smooth it's such a rush that it's hard to find something else that compairs.
PRev: Now in the same sense, what is it about Jesus that makes him so addicting?
SY: Well, the two can't compair. As awesome as riding is, it's still just another worldly activity that
some use to fill a void that only Jesus can fill. For all of us this world can be pretty harsh, and having to deal with it and try to do everything on your own is just impossible. I'm glad I've been able to have some of the minor hardships instead of having everything easy because it makes me realize I need to rely on him. He's the only true bet that will NEVER let you down. All things work for good for those who believe in Him.
PRev: If you could spend a day with anyone, who would it be and why would you pick him?
SY: I would say with a group of good friends at the track or out in the desert. For me riding and hanging out with good people is about as good as it gets. However, if just one person maybe hanging out with Pastor Chuck Smith of Calvary Costa Mesa or Greg Laurie, both of those guys would be fun to hang out with for a day.
PRev: Well Shad, I wana thank you for doing this, any last thoughts?
SY: Umm just thanks to all the people that are a part of PanicREV, it's a great group to be riding and hanging out with. Gotta have more cowbell baby, my old man is a television repair man he's got an ultimate set of tools I can fix it, and to Bill Brasky!
