Words By: Troy Wong

Five years, half a decade, 1825 days, 43,800 hours, 2,628,000 minutes, say it anyway you want. For some of you five years seems like a long time (I mean heck if you're 15 that's 33% of your life), for others of us, well let's just say it's about 11% of my life.

Where were you five years ago?

Five years ago: I was still in my 30's. My fourth was in pre-school. No one had hit puberty. My truck was still "new." I was 3lbs. lighter. I had less gray hair. I'd just met Scott and John Parkinson. I was afraid of the finish line jump at Starwest.

Five years ago we had a goofy idea that God wanted us to reach out to motocrossers. We prayed, we talked, we laughed, we got to know each other, and we became friends and brothers along the way. We kicked around some really stupid names – they were all boring or predictable except one. Scott thought of it: PanicRev. Panic meant urgency, Rev meant revolution. We were in a panic for God to do a revolution. The name was catchy and since I was just barely learning how to jump, I was well acquainted with panicrev. My mom didn't like the name because she thought it referred to a Reverend who panics. I explained to her the name was not referring to me (Yes, my official title was Reverend Troy).

In five years PanicRev became a 501.3c non-profit organization. The ministry has been in the pits at the San Diego Supercross, we were there not long after Ricky James got hurt, Nate Ramsey came by to do an interview/meet and greet when we were at one of the Anaheims (well kinda, his agent didn't have his ducks in row, but Nate eventually showed up). We were involved with the Brett Downey thing and with other fund raisers for downed riders or the family of riders that we lost. We have a Bible Study in Corona. We have Joyful Noise ride days. We have fun. A lot of us wouldn't know each other if not for PanicRev.

What's gonna happen in the next five years? Shoot, if I knew the answer to that questions I'd be set for life. But I don't. But with some faith and some observational skills, I think God's going to birth a church out of PanicRev. And to me, that's really cool. If want to know more about this new church, email us.

To God be the glory.
Troy
