Loretta Lynn's Day 4
By: John Parkinson
08.03.07

Les Smith killed it again on Friday and took home his first Loretta Lynn's title on a big bike.

Blake Wharton was on the gas in the 125cc 2-stroke class sweeping all three motos for the overall.

Kevin Walker is now on top in the record books at Loretta's, he added two more titles to his name to give him 13; two more than anyone else. Walker won the 25 plus class along with the 35 plus class. On a side note, the panicREV crew agrees with Kevin … God does rule!

Nico Izzi was right with Stroupe and Canard in the early goings, but as the race went on Canard and Stroupe picked up the pace and were able to pull a lead on Izzi. Izzi looked good and has one more chance to win another amateur title before he runs with the big boys at Millville .

Eli Tomac was really strong in the supermini class were he took the overall. Tomac finished second in the final supermini moto; he knew that was all he needed to bring home a title.

Ben Lamay had some strong motos and will by riding the final B race of his career Saturday.

Trey Canard is a man on a mission; he pulled the holeshot in the MX Lights A/Prosport class and began to battle with the hard charging Stroup and Izzi, but by the time they got to the finish line while still on their first lap the race was red flagged due to a faulty gate. Canard did not skip a beat grabbing yet another holeshop! Stroupe got around Canard in the early goings, but could not hold it for long. Stroupe made a bobble and let Canard back around and that is all he needed. Canard rode smart and smooth all the way to the finish for the championship.

Austin Stroupe (#51) and Trey Canard (#41) going through the 10 commandments.

Stroupe ran into some bad luck on the last lap and had some bike problems, unfortunately he was not able to finish.

Phil Nicoletti finished up third thanks to Stroupe's DNF

Blake Baggett took his final supermini win in the last moto here at the Ranch. A lot of people are looking forward to seeing Blake focus on the bike big full time.
